Fun with Art: School Holiday Program by Bridget Bahlmann
Join local designer / artist Bridget Bahlmann for a fun and creative school holiday art program that’s perfect for kids aged 5-8 and 9-12! Each day will focus on a new art topic that will spark imagination, encourage creativity, and help kids discover the joy of expressing themselves through art.
Students will create their own masterpiece using pencil and paint, and take home a painting at the end of the day. For the final half hour each day, there’s a special treat—kids will also have the chance to paint their own blown egg, adding an extra Easter touch to their art experience. It’s the perfect blend of learning, creativity, and Easter holiday fun!
Program Details:
- Location: Bridget Bahlmann Art, Omaha (address shared upon confirmation)
- Time: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
NB - If you are worried about the times clashing with Ruth's Holiday Swim Program - I have spoken to her and all you need to do is to email Ruth requesting the 2pm afternoon session.
- Age Group: 5-8 years and 9-12 years (two tables of 5 kids)
- Dates: Week 1; Monday 14th - Thursday 17th, Week 2; Tuesday 22nd - Friday 25th
- Cost: $245 for 4 days per child, or $125 for 2 days per child

- Special Note: To celebrate Easter kids can paint a *blown egg* (empty, clean eggshell) on any day for the last half hour of class.

Week 1 - Daily Schedule:
Monday 14th April: Inspired by Van Gogh – A Swirling Spring Landscape
- Explore: Vibrant Colours and Dreamy Skies
The children will kick off the week by exploring the energetic style of Vincent van Gogh. Kids will create their own vibrant spring landscape using pencil for sketching and acrylic paint for bold, swirling skies and bright colours. At the end of the day, they’ll paint their own blown egg with swirling patterns and vibrant colours inspired by Van Gogh's energetic landscapes.
Tuesday 15th April: Inspired by Henri Rousseau – Fun with Animals and Nature
- Explore: Lush Jungle Scenes & Imaginary Creatures
On Day 2, kids will dive into the world of Henri Rousseau and his lush, vibrant jungles. Students will paint their favourite animals or imaginary creatures in a colourful jungle setting. Afterward, they’ll spend the last half hour painting their blown egg to match the colours and themes of Rousseau’s jungle scenes.
Wednesday 16th April: Inspired by Claude Monet – Exploring Light and Nature
- Explore: Soft Brushstrokes & Nature’s Beauty*
Today, kids will discover the soft, impressionistic world of Claude Monet. They’ll create their own spring garden or outdoor scene, using pencil to sketch and acrylic or watercolour paints for light, flowing brushstrokes. For the last half hour, they’ll paint their blown egg with soft, pastel colours or floral designs inspired by Monet’s love of nature.
Thursday 17th April: Inspired by Pablo Picasso – Abstract Shapes and Faces
- Explore: Geometric Faces & Fun Portraits
On Thursday, kids will explore Picasso’s abstract, cubist style by breaking down their subject into geometric shapes and bold colours. Students will create fun, abstract portraits or scenes using pencil and acrylic paint. In the final half hour, they’ll paint their blown egg with geometric patterns and vibrant colours, adding a Picasso-inspired twist.

Tuesday 22nd April: Painting with Colour
- Explore: Watercolour & Acrylic Painting Techniques
Kick off the week by exploring the world of colour! Students will dive into watercolour and acrylic painting, learning the basics of each medium. They’ll experiment with blending colours, creating textures, and using brushes in different ways to bring their ideas to life. This session is all about discovering the joy of painting and how to use colour to express creativity. This session has a special Easter Twist where we will create some beautiful painted bunnies and eggs!
Wednesday 23rd April: Drawing & Sketching
- Explore: Pencil, Charcoal, and Ink Techniques
On Day 2, kids will focus on the fundamentals of drawing, exploring a variety of techniques with pencil, charcoal, and ink. From shading and texture to simple sketching exercises, this class will help children understand the basics of creating depth and dimension in their artwork. It's perfect for kids who want to develop their drawing skills and create stunning black-and-white pieces.
Thursday 24rd April: Mixed Media Fun
- Explore: Combining Paint, Collage & Textures
This day is all about getting creative with mixed media! Kids will combine different materials—such as paint, fabric, paper, and found objects—to create one-of-a-kind collages and textured artwork. Bridget will guide them through layering techniques and help them discover how different materials can work together to make exciting and unique compositions.
Friday 25th April: Abstract Art Exploration
- Explore: Expressing Ideas with Shapes and Colours
Friday the 25th of
On Friday, children will dive into the world of abstract art. They’ll experiment with shapes, lines, and colours to create pieces that express their feelings and ideas in a non-representational way. Bridget will guide them in using bold brushstrokes, geometric shapes, and vibrant colours to create artworks that are full of energy and emotion.
